The Village of Craco
After it was struck by plague in 1656, its population decreased significantly because of the number of deaths caused by the incident. Between 1890s to 1920s, many of the remaining locals moved to other towns due to the poor condition of their land, leaving them no crops, thus nothing to eat. Due to its location and type of soil where the village stands, landslides became more frequent, putting the lives of those who chose to stay at risk.
